A Scaling Method to empowering widows in Tafawa Balewa

The goat rearing project is one of the ways FLEP’s Transforming Livelihood Project (TLP) is working to alleviate poverty and to diversify the livelihood of widows in Tafawa Balewa, Bauchi state. The project through the three-goats-one-woman approach is empowering widowed women. The primary objective of the goat rearing project is to improve the welfare of these women by generating income to support their families and also diversify their livelihoods by supporting their small businesses or start a new one. Over 50 women were empowered in 2018 with the three-goat approach and also received training on goat rearing management. The project has shown marked success in the living standard of the women.
